1st XI forced to come from behind to earn Eton draw

27 Oct 2013

For the third time in five games this season the OHAFC 1st XI were forced to come from behind to earn a point in a game where they again struggled in the first half but improved after the break.

In high winds and driving rain the home side fell behind midway through the first half when they again failed to deal with a long clearance from their opponents defence.

They nearly levelled before the break, Lederman's effort cleared off the line by a desperate lunge from a defender, but conceded a second early in the second half when Coleridge-Cole tripped a wide player inside the box resulting in a penalty.

The centre-half then atoned for his error by heading home from a corner with just over twenty minutes remaining and in a dramatic finish the home side levelled, also from the spot, after Harry Hoffen's effort was handled on the line by an Eton defender. The defender was given his marching orders and Lederman coolly converted the spot-kick.

Johan Harder so nearly won it for the home side in injury time but he planted his header just wide of the far post.

The draw leaves both teams in mid-table.

The team lineup and match report is now available in the Results section.
