2s slump to defeat against old enemy

27 Oct 2013

OHAFC II 0 Eton II 2

Eton seemed to cope with the difficult weather conditions in the first half better than Harrow but failed to create any meaningful openings. Stand in 'keeper Orr-Ewing untroubled. Harrow were chasing shadows for the first 20 minutes but started to apply some pressure towards the end of the half. 0-0 at the break.

The first Eton corner came at the hour mark and it was a threatening one. Some poor marking allowed the ball to drop to an Eton player who scrambled in from close range and wheeled away in delight. It was becoming clear that Harrow were not creating enough chances going forward and the long throw threat from Cater was being stifled by a combination of wet ball and good defending.

A second Eton goal came on 80 minutes - a neat side footed finish from the number 10 who had been dictating the game from midfield.

Rowley Higgs performed well at the back with Conti von Hirsch despite the two goals. Unfortunately, Vice Captain Dave Stead picked up a badly sprained ankle and will be out for a few weeks.

Spirits in the camp are still high but the 2s need a win against Brentwood next week.
