2s maintain 100% start with Rugbeians win

5 Oct 2019

The OHAFC 2nd XI kept up their 100% winning start to the new season with another solid 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon, beating the newly-promoted Old Rugbeians under cloudy skies on Harrow Hill.

The 2s once more made a fast start, taking the lead inside the first ten minutes with a towering header from Pablo Hutchinson. The hosts then scored a wonderful second courtesy of an elaborate passing move that saw the ball switched from side to side before Tristan David crossed from the left for Alexi Pittalis to slide in at the near post.

In the five minutes after half-time Andres Hutchinson and substitute Gbeminiyi Soyinka had golden opportunities to put the result beyond doubt, but having spurned them, a lapse in concentration allowed the visitors to pull a goal back courtesy of a long ball over the top and a well-placed lob over goalkeeper Tom Mitchell.

Fortunately, another superb move down the right wing allowed Geoff Taunton-Collins to cross, Andres Hutchinson flicked on and Soyinka was on hand to finish from close range.

The win keeps the Blues top of Division Two with maximum points from three games. The side travel to Eton next weekend for their toughest test of the season to date.
