3s continue revival with Cup win over Bancroftians

11 Nov 2019

The OHAFC 3rd XI continued their revival under new skipper Ed Nicholson with another excellent win, defeating fellow Division Four side the Old Bancroftians 3-1 on the Hill in the Preliminary Round of the Junior League Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Despite falling behind to an early penalty and enduring a tricky opening twenty minutes when the visitors were well on top, the hosts rallied and turned the scoreline on its head before the break courtesy of goals from Dan Abu and Mikey Watford - his second in consecutive matches.

As the rain fell steadily throughout the second half, the result was settled with a quarter of an hour remaining when Arthur Blount squared unselfishly for Ade Omisore to fire in.

The 3s' reward for their fine win is another home tie in the first round proper, although this time the opposition should provide an even sterner test, with Division Two side the Old Sennockians the opponents.

Saturday's team sheet and match report are now available in the results section here, with match photos due in shortly.
