3s exit DW Trophy via penalty shootout

3 Feb 2020

The OHAFC 3rd XI were knocked out of the David Woolcott Trophy at the first attempt on Saturday, losing a tense penalty shootout 4-3 away to the Merchant Taylors 2nd XI.

The two sides had earlier failed to score in a tightly-contested ninety minutes of few chances. The hosts failed from the spot when Harrow keeper Fraser McGuinness made an excellent save, diving low to his right to collect the effort. The visitors came close on a couple of occasions, Mikey Watford hitting the bar with a left-foot effort and Adam Graham seeing his long-range effort well saved.

With the tie unable to be settled in ninety minutes, a dramatic penalty shootout followed. Harrow missed their first kick, but Taylors then followed, both sides scoring three of their first four efforts. Disappointingly, Mikey Watford was to miss Harrow's fifth, his rather tame effort comfortably saved by the Taylors goalkeeper to send the hosts through to round two.
