4th XI fall to Amplefordians in DWT drama

28 Jan 2019

The OHAFC 4th XI suffered a second consecutive narrow Cup defeat on Saturday following December's 2-1 loss to the Old Eastbournians in the Junior League Cup.

This time, Ed Nicholson's side managed to take Division Five strugglers the Old Amplefordians to extra-time in their David Woolcott Trophy first round tie, James Monroe's goal earning the extra half-hour in a 1-1 draw. But the visitors proved to be the stronger side as the tie wore on and two goals in the closing minutes saw them progress at the 4s' expense.

Nevertheless, as with the Eastbourne defeat, there was much to admire in the Blues' performance and the two fixtures have proved an excellent introduction to Arthurian League football for those selected. The games have also proved the OHAFC can turn out four competitive sides on the same afternoon - something that would have been unheard of even just a few seasons ago.

Saturday's 4th XI lineup and match report are now available in the results section here.
