Jubilee Cup report - Phil Berry & Azhar Khan victorious

4 Dec 2012

Multi coloured team T-shirts greeted the players for this year’s OHAFC Five-a-Side Jubilee Cup in the Sports Centre on 2nd December. Six teams, each comprising a combination of OH’s and current Harrovians, competed for this prestigious trophy which was donated in 1988 by The Hon Timothy Monckton, The Grove 1968-2, to mark 25 years since the re-establishment of the OHAFC.

This season the Club is celebrating 50 Years On and it was appropriate that this 26th tournament was probably the best yet. The group stage was keenly contested with Yellow and Red finishing in 5th and 6th position respectively and the holder, Harry Woolley, Moretons 1998-3, duly eliminated. The 3rd and 4th place play-off saw Green beat Black before Blue faced Purple in the final.

Blue, headed by Phil Berry, Rendalls 1993-3 and Azhar Khan, Moretons 2001-3, showed the greater stamina and lifted the cup 4-2 at the expense of the team led by Jack Robinson, Rendalls 2000-3, and Charlie Stebbings, Rendalls 2007-3. At the victory ceremony, former OHAFC President, Fred Woolley, congratulated all the players on some exciting and skilful football and thanked TMK for refereeing throughout, with a little help from his young assistant, Jack Orr-Ewing, Elmfield 2000-3.
