OHAFC Pre-Season Programme Announced

27 Jul 2013

With the new Arthurian League season less than eight weeks away, the OHAFC pre-season programme has been released.

Training will begin on Tuesday August 6th at a venue to be announced. These weekly sessions will enable players from all three squads to improve their fitness and sharpness prior to the competitive elements of pre-season.

The Jim Dixson 6-a-side competition, which the OHAFC have never won before, takes place on Sunday September 8th with the first 11-a-side games for the 1st and 2nd XI's the following night against KCS Wimbledon at Colliers Wood FC. The fixture last year saw a very poor turnout from the OHAFC so it was with great credit that those who did turn out fought back from 3-0 down to 3-2 and nearly force a draw against a much better prepared KCS team.

Five days later, Saturday September 14th, the 1's and 2's are again in action in friendlies against old rivals Eton - the first time the teams have met in pre-season friendlies.

A week later on the 21st the second edition of the Festiphil tournament will be played on the Phil pitches. Last year's inaugural event was a huge success with large numbers of OHAFC players young and old and current school players all joining to play a series of competitive games as a precursor to the start of the Arthurian League season.

With all three OHAFC sides suffering disappointing campaigns in 2012/13 the importance of players from all squads committing to a full pre-season programme cannot be underestimated.
