On this weekend...

Continuing our look back through the OHAFC archives at games played on this weekend last season, three seasons ago and five seasons ago...

Last Season: April 6th 2013

1st XI: Lost 3-1 at already-relegated Tonbridge in the only OHAFC game to be played in the week following the Tour.

Despite propping up the rest of the division, and having been beaten by the Blues in both League and Cup earlier in the season, Tonbridge were able to call up several university-based players and were clearly a much tougher proposition this time around.

The match, played on astroturf, was an even affair for the first half an hour but two defensive mistakes in the spell prior to the break gifted the hosts a couple of goals and left the visitors with an uphill task: Walsh fumbled a low cross in the Harrow goal to leave a simple tap-in before Defty was then caught on the wrong side of his man and clumsily stumbled into the back of him to concede a penalty.

Harrow were unlucky not to pull one goal straight back when a thunderous Sam Pepys shot cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and Freddie Brunt also spurned a good chance.

The visitors started the second half well and pressed on the Tonbridge goal earnestly but on the hour mark they were undone by a classic counter-attack that left Will Orr-Ewing facing four onrushing Tonbridgians alone. Although Walsh did well to parry the first effort, the rebound was comfortably converted.

Tonbridge relaxed and left the Blues chasing shadows in the final twenty minutes but to their credit Harrow kept chasing and scored a late consolation when Brunt and Pepys combined well to send Quentin Baker clean through on goal.

Finally, with no OHAFC games tomorrow, I leave you with the definition of a Bye Week:

A bye in sports and other competitive activities can have two different meanings. First, in leagues where almost all teams play on the same days, the team (or teams) that does not play on that day is said to be on bye; in sports that are played weekly, especially gridiron football, a team that does not play at all during the week is said to be on its "bye week", but if they play on another day of the week, e.g. Monday or Thursday, they are not.

Try and enjoy your bye week folks, I know it won't be easy...
