Weekend Round-Up: 1s begin season in style!
The 2026/27 Arthurian League season kicked off on Saturday and there were mixed results for the two OHAFC sides in action.
An early 10am KO on the Harrow School astroturf ensured that the OHAC 2s and their Old Westminsters counterparts enjoyed the honour of competing in the first fixture of the new season. But, despite a superb effort in pre-season, the home side spluttered in attack and lost 1-0 to the visitors’ solitary move of note in the match: a cross from the right was chested down inside the box and Guy Nakamura volleyed home midway through the first half (pictured below).

There was much better news to follow, however, as a few hours later the OHAFC 1st XI produced a superb display to dismantle the Old Rugbeians 7-2 down in Whitton. Skipper Dan Firoozan led the way, opening the scoring inside ten minutes and, remarkably, the visitors found themselves 5-1 up by the interval: Arthur Leney scored twice in the space of a minute, the skipper added the fourth before Ed Pagani scored at both ends in quick succession.
The second half proved slightly less eventful, but the Blues remained in control throughout and sealed the win with the skipper’s hat-trick and a late effort from Walid Nsouli. The Rugbeians had the final word, scoring their second with the very last kick of the game, but that failed to prevent the OHAFC registering their biggest opening day win for over 15 years.
Team sheets and match reports from both games are now available in the results section.
