Weekend Round-Up: 3s smash 8 in record win

19 Oct 2026

Saturday featured a rare double-header for the club, with both the 1st and 3rd XIs facing sides from Merchant Taylors.

The 1st XI were disappointingly forced to settle for just a point on the Hill in a fairly even contest. Jamie Jordache scored for the second week running, firing in from just outside the box midway through the first half. Further chances to extend the lead were spurned, but the visitors pressed forwards after the break and deserved their equaliser when it arrived. The hosts had been temporarily reduced to ten men when Will Payne was sinbinned for questioning a refereeing decision and the numerical advantage proved decisive, Taylors scoring from a rather scruffy finish following a cross from the right wing.

But the 3s earned one of the results of the day across the entire league when they travelled to Northwood and came away with an astonishing 8-4 victory over the Merchant Taylors 2nd XI. Unbeknown to anyone outside the 3s squad, skipper Henry Collins had managed to persuade former professional Ody Alfa to make his OHAFC debut in the match and this proved rather decisive. Within five minutes Ody had scored a superb goal and just after the half-hour mark he had completed his hat-trick. The Blues led 4-0 at the break and scored another four in the second half, Alfa with one of them – both Jake Speed and Tobi Adebayo scoring two apiece.

Teamsheets and match reports from both games are now available in the results section.
