1s begin season in style with five-goal Lancing win

24 Sep 2018

The OHAFC 1st XI produced a superb first half display to score four times against recently relegated Lancing and went on to seal a deserved 5-2 win in the Blues' opening fixture of the 2018/19 season.

Doug Morrison opened the scoring just two minutes into Harrow's season with a sublime chip, Alex Gilbert rounded off a flowing move with a simple finish before firing into the top corner from twenty-five yards out and Will Bamford completed another excellent attack as the hosts proved far too strong in the first half of the new season.

Despite Lancing pulling goals back either side of the break courtesy of set-pieces, a late penalty from Alex Breeden confirmed the win and an excellent start to the season.

The win against such illustrious opposition was especially impressive given the absence of last season's leading scorer James Breeden.

Jake Rogers was the only OH debutant, coming on as a first half substitute and he acquitted himself well in fairly awful conditions.

The 1s face their first away game of the season next with a trip to Brunel University to face the Old Malvernians.
