3s awarded points following goalless draw

28 Jan 2020

The OHAFC 3rd XI battled to a hard-fought goalless draw at home to the Old King's Scholars on Saturday afternoon, although the fixture was somewhat overshadowed by the opposition turning up with an Old Harrovian in their ranks. Understandably, this caused considerable angst among the home side, several of whom had been contemporaries of the Kings player at school.

The game itself was a tight affair with chances few and far between on a grey day on the Hill. Jack Orr-Ewing went close with a header from a corner and skipper Ed Nicholson tried his luck from long range without success. Kings missed a golden chance late on when a cross from the right was blazed over the bar by an unmarked striker.

The final whistle signalled a rare goalless draw for the 3s, just their second since the 2012/13 season in fact. But the revelation that Kings had fielded a Harrovian ultimately led to the home side being awarded three points that lifts the team further clear of the drop zone.
