Weekend Round-Up: 2s secure vital win

20 Mar 2023

Vastly differing fortunes enjoyed (and endured) by the OHAFC 1s and 2s this weekend.

The 1s were embarrassed 7-1 on the astroturf by the Old Johnians. A shambolic opening to the game saw the Blues go 3-0 down inside the opening fifteen minutes and trail 5-0 at the break. An improved showing in the second half saw skipper Dan Firoozan score an excellent free-kick but two further goals from the Johnians completed the rout.

The OHAFC have two games remaining with which to secure their Division One status.

But over on the Phil, the OHAFC 2s enjoyed a much better day, running out 3-2 winners over the Old Aldenhamians to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

Pedro Azagra (pictured) opened the scoring midway through the first half and two further strikes in quick succession early in the second half - Miles Kellock with the first and Azagra with the second - appeared to give the Blues an unassailable 3-0 lead. But the Aldenhamians hit back, pulling one back with twenty minutes remaining before causing a nervy final five minutes as they bagged a second from a corner.

Fortunately, the hosts held on to register a vital win and climb out of the relegation zone - for now, at least.

Team sheets and match reports for both games are now available in the results section.
